Stake Sportsbook: What You Can Bet on and How It Works
Stake Sportsbook is Stake.com’s betting platform for football, tennis, MMA, Formula 1 and esports, with pre-match and live betting plus singles, multis and Same Game Multi.
Stake Sportsbook covers live and pre-match bets.
What Stake Sportsbook Is
Stake’s sportsbook sits alongside the casino on Stake.com and handles both pre-match and live betting. Stake.com is owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V. and holds a licence from the Curaçao Gaming Authority. Stake sports betting follows the Sportsbook Rules and Policies, split into general rules, a Stake Shield section and sport-specific sections including ice hockey, baseball, golf, MotoGP, darts and snooker, while All Other Sports falls back under the general sportsbook rules.
How Betting Works on Stake
Before you place a bet, you can switch the odds format between decimal, fractional and American, and each version shows the potential return in its own way.
- Sign in first. Open your account before you start building the bet slip.
- Choose a sport. Pick a sport, then open either a live event or an upcoming fixture.
- Add a market. Select the market you want and send it to the bet slip.
- Enter your stake. Type the amount you want to risk, then check the potential return shown on the slip.
- Confirm the bet. Once the slip looks right, confirm the wager.
Bet Settings and Settlement
Settlement follows the general rules unless a sport states something different. Extra time does not count by default, and a postponed or abandoned match can still settle on the final result if play finishes within 48 hours. If a result cannot be verified straight away, bet settlement can wait for official confirmation. A void bet returns at x1 and puts the stake back into the account.
Cashout sits in My Bets for selected pre-match and live markets across singles and multis, though a Same Game Multi does not support it. Player props allow pre-match cashout only, suspended markets can block it, and the amount offered may be higher or lower than your stake. You can check when cashout is not available if the button does not appear.
Live Betting and Live Streaming
Live betting on Stake centres on markets whose odds move in real time as a match or fight unfolds. The integrated bet tracker helps you follow open bets while play is still going on, which changes how you read a market compared with pre-match betting. To use live streaming alongside that, you need to be signed in to your account before the stream icon appears.
Live streaming adds a second layer to that experience because selected football, tennis, esports and MMA events can be watched from the account through the live icon. You can watch free live streams on Stake while following the market, and selected live bets may also offer cashout. Stake Shield stays outside that flow, because live selections are excluded and Shield bets do not support cashout.
Payments, Deposits, and Withdrawals
Stake accepts both crypto and local-currency payment methods for deposits. The crypto side includes BTC, ETH and USDT among other coins, while local-currency options include the Canadian dollar, Turkish lira, Vietnamese dong and Indian rupee. The Stake Vault lets you store funds behind extra two-factor authentication, keep them accessible at any time, and hold balances in several local currencies and crypto assets.
For a crypto deposit, your email and account need to be verified first. From there, you open Wallet, choose Deposit, follow the instructions for the selected coin and send funds from one crypto address to another. If you do not already hold crypto, Stake also offers card purchase through MoonPay on site.
A Stake withdrawal requires each deposit to be wagered at 100%, and the same condition applies to a tip. For a local-currency deposit, that rule sits in clause 8.5 of the terms. For some local currencies, crypto payouts are not the only route, because withdrawals can go to Visa or Mastercard after a card deposit, back to the original card, within up to 3 working days.
Is Stake Sportsbook Legal and Available in Your Country?
Access depends on where you are. Stake.com’s terms bar the service both for residents of the listed prohibited jurisdictions and for anyone physically present in them. You must be 18, or the legal age of majority where you are if that age is higher.
Stake.com’s terms hold the full list of prohibited jurisdictions, and those access restrictions cover both residents and anyone physically present there. Examples named in the terms include the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia and Ontario. For the official country restrictions in force at the time you check, read Stake.com’s terms.
Access by country is framed by Stake.com’s licence and restricted regions, and the list of prohibited jurisdictions can change from one version of the terms to another, so only the live terms count. Stake also says it cannot verify whether its service is lawful in every jurisdiction, so you need to confirm that your own use is legal where you are.
Mobile Experience and Account Use
Stake supports mobile use through an optimised site and a mobile app. Without downloading anything first, you can open the site in your browser, choose Add to Home Screen, then sign in, pay and place bets from a smartphone or tablet. Stake can also request KYC documents at any time to establish identity and location, restrict the service, a payment or a withdrawal while checks are pending, and apply extra verification to any withdrawal.
Stake Promotions, VIP, and Stake Shield
Sports promotions sit on Stake’s dedicated promotions page, and each one has its own terms. Stake Shield, also called Flexi Bet, is an optional feature on a multi where you choose how many selections may lose and see adjusted odds with the potential return before staking. It does not apply to Same Game Multis, racing, player props, outrights or some market lines.

Stake’s VIP programme runs across more than 15 levels, and a void bet does not count towards VIP progress. Rakeback returns a percentage of each bet, won or lost. It unlocks at Bronze in the VIP Club and increases at higher levels. Sports bettors can also receive reload bonuses and personal VIP hosts.
Responsible Gambling Tools
Stake places responsible gambling tools under Stake Smart and within the Responsible Gambling tab, then Gambling Limits. You can set loss limits and betting limits by day, week or month, and lowering a limit applies straight away. Raising a limit waits 24 hours. Deposit limits work differently for local currency and crypto, but they use the same immediate decrease and delayed increase structure.
Break in Play pauses the whole account for 1 day, 2 days, 1 week or 1 month, with no activity possible until the period ends. You can also exclude the Sportsbook only while keeping the rest of the account active. For a stronger step, indefinite self-exclusion blocks the full account for a minimum of 6 months.
Stake Sportsbook FAQs
Can I Still Bet on Stake?
You can use Stake.com only if you do not live in a prohibited jurisdiction and are not physically present in one. The terms in force are the ones that count, because the prohibited-jurisdiction list can change between versions.
How Much Is 1 Dollar in Stake?
A crypto balance on Stake can be shown in a local currency, but the displayed value is only an approximate representation of the crypto you hold. In Wallet Settings, you can turn on Display crypto in fiat and choose the currency view.
How Do Withdrawals Work on Stake?
For a crypto withdrawal, your email must be verified first. In Wallet, you choose the crypto and network, enter the destination address and amount, then confirm with 2FA, an email code or OAuth verification. Each withdrawal has a minimum amount and fees come off the balance. There is no maximum withdrawal amount on Stake.
