What Stake Esports Is

Stake Esports sits inside the Sportsbook rather than the casino lobby, so you reach it through the Sports menu and the Esports area. On Stake.com, esports are a category of the Sportsbook, with betting available on desktop and mobile in local currency or crypto. The All Esports page groups the titles on the schedule, so the visible line-up changes with the event calendar.

Esports betting means placing sports bets on organised competitive video games, where players or teams face each other to complete objectives and score points. On Stake, those matches and tournaments become Sportsbook events, so you browse them as scheduled fixtures with pre-match and live markets instead of treating them as casino games or ordinary video game play.

Which Esports You Can Bet on at Stake

Stake esports follows the competition calendar rather than one fixed catalogue, so the menu lists the games with events on the schedule. The Esports area lists Crossfire, CS2, CS2 Duels, Dota 2, eCricket, FIFA, FIFA Bots, King of Glory, League of Legends, Mobile Legends, NBA2K, Rainbow Six and Valorant. Within Counter-Strike 2 markets and tournaments, Stake names Stake Ranked alongside Majors, Intel Extreme Masters and the ESL Pro League.

How Stake Groups Esports by Genre

Stake groups esports by genre, which helps you read the menu faster when unfamiliar titles appear. FPS games such as CS2, Valorant and Rainbow Six focus on first-person aim and reflexes. Dota 2 and League of Legends sit in the MOBA group, where each player controls a character with distinct abilities. RTS and strategy games revolve around resources, bases and units, while sports simulation covers virtual football, basketball or cricket.

How to Place an Esports Bet on Stake

Esports betting on Stake runs through the bet slip, where one selection becomes a single and several selections can become a Multi. A Multi combines picks from different matches and every active leg must win. On some esports matches, a Same Game Multi lets you combine several selections from the same fixture. That difference matters, because each ticket type settles by its own rules.

  1. Open Sports and Esports. Open a free account, then go to the Sports menu and choose Esports. The game list follows the schedule, so you start from the title or event that is available.
  2. Choose the event and match. Find the game you want, then open the event and the specific match. That view is where Stake shows the full set of available markets for that contest.
  3. Add a market to the slip. Select the market you want to back and it moves into the bet slip. You can stop there with one pick or keep building the ticket.
  4. Enter your stake and confirm. Type your stake, then place the bet. The bet only counts once Stake sends confirmation that it has been accepted.
  5. Track it in My Bets. After placement, follow the ticket in My Bets under Active or Settled.

Confirmation is the point where the bet becomes accepted, and after that you cannot cancel it. Where Edit Bet exists, you can adjust the ticket instead of removing it outright. My Bets then keeps the record under Active or Settled, and each ticket carries a bet ID plus a direct link you can copy into support chat if a question comes up about that specific bet.

Main Esports Markets and Bet Types

Esports betting markets describe what you are backing in a match, not which title you picked from the menu. The main bet types on Stake cover result bets, map-level bets and stat-based options, and larger events can carry very broad betting markets. That is why match winner, handicap and totals can all sit on the same fixture, even though each market answers a different question about the contest.

  • Match winner backs the team that wins the match. Some events use a two-way market, while others offer a three-way result that includes the draw.
  • Tournament outright backs the final winner of a whole competition rather than one fixture. This applies to events such as The International, Worlds or the Esports World Cup.
  • Map handicap adjusts the score line before settlement. A team at -1.5 maps must win with a two-map gap, and some events also carry Asian handicap lines.
  • Map winner focuses on one map rather than the full match. You can back the team to win a specific map or to take at least one map in the series.
  • Totals cover over or under lines on maps, rounds, points or kills. Some markets also extend to player kills within the same match.
  • Correct score asks for the exact final result of the match. That means calling the finished score line rather than just the winner.
  • Props cover incidents that do not decide the final result on their own. Examples include first blood or an Ace within the action.
  • Multi and Same Game Multi combine selections on one ticket. A Multi joins different matches, while a Same Game Multi joins several picks from the same match.

How Match Formats Shape Market Meaning

Format changes how you should read the market. A Bo1 is one map only, so match winner and map winner can point to the same outcome. A Bo2 can finish 1:1, which is why some result markets include the draw. A Bo5 extends the same logic across more maps, while ordinary rounds often use Bo3 and finals often use Bo5.

A Bo3 changes the arithmetic behind several markets. A handicap of -1.5 maps needs a 2:0 win, not a 2:1. Totals then cover either two maps or three, and correct score means choosing between outcomes such as 2:0 or 2:1. The market range also depends on the game itself and on how popular the event is with bettors.

Live Betting and Streaming on Stake

Live betting on Stake esports means opening a match while it is in progress and following the live odds, score and match statistics in that event view. Stake offers pre-match and live markets on major esports events, but not every market behaves the same way. Some stay open through the map, while temporary markets close before the map or in-game moment starts. Matches with free streams marked by the live icon can be watched alongside the market.

Cash out lets you take a return before the bet is settled, but it only appears on some events and markets. If Cashout is not offered, the reason may be the delay on each request, a market suspension, missing live coverage from the start of the event, or odds moving during that delay. The value can land above or below your original stake.

Odds and Payouts, Explained Simply

Odds show how Stake calculates the total return from a winning bet. In decimal format, your stake multiplied by the odds gives the full payout, and the payout minus the stake gives the profit. You can change the display format in the settings in your account before betting, with Decimal, Fractional, American, Indonesian, Hong Kong and Malaysian all available.

Payouts also depend on the ticket type you choose in esports betting. A single uses one match and one market only, while a Multi combines selections from several matches and needs every active leg to win. In a Multi, a voided selection settles at x1 and returns the stake on that leg, while the rest of the ticket continues on its remaining active picks. A Same Game Multi is cancelled in full if one selection is voided.

How Stake Settles Esports Bets

Stake also applies esports-specific void rules around disrupted matches and roster changes. The listed start time is only indicative. Bets are void if a match is postponed by more than 24 hours, if play stops and does not resume within 24 hours for undecided markets, on walkovers, with at least 50% of a roster replaced, after some reversed results within 72 hours, or when a map starts short-handed. A team typing GG does not settle the bet by itself.

Player markets settle from Stake data confirmed by hltv.org for CS2, vlr.gg for Valorant, dotabuff for Dota 2, or gol.gg for League of Legends, with the stream used if those data points are missing. If a player is replaced, that player’s markets are voided. Outrights settle from the tournament’s official result, and a cancelled tournament voids those bets.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options

You can deposit in crypto or local currency from the Wallet once your email and account are verified. Stake names crypto options including Bitcoin, ETH, USDT, EOS, DOGE, LTC, TRX and SOL, and Moonpay can be used on site to buy crypto by card. If you prefer to read balances in EUR or another local currency, the wallet can display crypto in fiat as an approximate value.

Withdrawal methods on Stake also run through the wallet and start with a verified email. For crypto withdrawals, you choose the coin, the network, the destination address and the amount, then confirm with 2FA, an email code or OAuth verification. Each withdrawal carries its own minimum amount, and Stake deducts the related fee from the balance before the transfer is completed.

Mobile Experience and App Usability

Stake esports works across desktop, a phone browser and a mobile app, so esports betting does not depend on one device type. That gives you the same account whether you open the Sports menu on a computer or move through matches, markets and the bet slip on a mobile session.

The mobile experience partly depends on where you access Stake. On iPhone, the iOS app is listed on the Canadian App Store but absent from the Irish App Store, so availability follows the store country. On Android, no Stake.com app is published on Google Play, so mobile use runs through the browser with the same account as desktop.

VIP Club, Promotions and Limits to Watch

Sports bets count three times towards VIP progression on Stake, which makes the VIP Club relevant if you use the Sportsbook regularly for esports. Stake also names rewards such as weekly boosts, rakeback, reloads from Platinum, monthly bonuses and a VIP host at higher levels. In the Sports menu, you also get a Bet Bonuses entry alongside the sportsbook rules.

Stake lets you set loss and wager limits by day, week or month, alongside a deposit limit in the Responsible Gambling area of the account. Setting or lowering a limit takes effect immediately, while raising or removing one waits 24 hours. Self-exclusion runs for an indefinite period with a minimum of 6 months, and no account activity is possible during that time. You must be 18, or older where the legal age is higher, and Stake.com sets a list of prohibited countries in its terms.
