Stake KYC: Pass Verification with the Right Documents

Stake KYC is a staged account check, from personal details to ID, address and source of funds. It is not required at sign-up, but withdrawals can be refused until verified.

Stake KYC is needed before you can withdraw.

What Stake KYC Means

Stake KYC is a risk-based verification process for your account. Stake may ask for proof of identity and age, legal residence, permanent address, and source of wealth. It checks that you can use the service legally, that the account belongs to you, and that winnings go to the right person when you make a withdrawal.

Stake KYC verification is carried out with help from a third-party provider. That provider checks the identity and age declared on the account, screens you against international sanctions lists, and confirms whether you are in the jurisdictions where Stake.com is not available. Stake accepts natural persons only, so the account must belong to a real individual rather than a business or shared profile.

What Documents You Need for Stake Verification

Stake KYC documents fall into clear families rather than one fixed file set for every account. The help centre separates identity proof, proof of address, a selfie with ID, and source of funds evidence, each with its own rules. It also keeps separate document lists for Japan, Nigeria, and India, so the request can depend on where your account details place you.

  • Identity verification starts with an accepted ID document. Stake accepts an international passport, a national identity card with both sides, or a driving licence with both sides. No other document type is accepted.
  • Proof of address is separate from identity verification and only matters when requested. It is a recent document in your name, such as a utility bill or a bank statement, used to support your address.
  • A selfie with your identity document can also be requested for Stake KYC. It links the document to the person sending it, and Stake applies its own photo rules to that image.
  • Extra checks can include source of funds evidence. Stake accepts documents such as bank statements, payslips, tax returns, investment statements, property records, business income records, loan papers, and other records that explain where the money comes from. For bank statements, that means regular incoming payments across a period, in general 3 to 6 months, from income such as salary or pension.

Stake’s compliance team can request any document at any time and can restrict services, payments, or withdrawals until identity and location are established well enough. Before you upload source of funds evidence, compare your file with the source of income documents so the format and document type match the request.

How Stake Verification Levels Work

Stake verification levels follow the route shown inside the account settings. Third-party guides describe the path as profile, Settings, then Verify, which opens the Level 1 form and shows all four levels. Level 1 itself is completed without documents. Because withdrawals require verification, finishing the higher KYC steps early can prevent a first cashout delay and reduce later account limits or restrictions.

LevelWhat Stake Asks ForWhat It Opens or Triggers
Level 1Personal details only: full name, date of birth, country, residential address, city, postcode, professionStarts account setup, affects country-based features and local currency access, opens ongoing offers
Level 2Identity documentIdentity and age check
Level 3Proof of addressAddress check, when Stake asks for it
Level 4Source of fundsApplies the source of funds stage and may appear during enhanced due diligence after an alert or suspended account review

Stake itself names the account setup stage as Level 1 and refers to players at KYC level 2, while the four-level layout comes from third-party descriptions of the route. Some account features also depend on that KYC status. For example, Chat Rain is reserved for players at KYC level 2 who have also met a separate wagering threshold across the previous seven days.

How to Pass Identity Verification on Stake

Identity verification passes more smoothly when the photo meets Stake’s file rules from the start. The identity document criteria require an original colour image in high resolution, a document that is undamaged, laid flat, and fully visible with all four corners shown. The ID needs three months or more left before expiry, printed in Latin script in an international format, and photographed rather than uploaded as a digital file.

  1. Open the verification area. Go to Settings > Verification from your account profile. That opens the verification form and shows the staged process attached to your account.
  2. Match your legal details. Enter the same full legal name that appears on your documents. Do not use a nickname or shortened version.
  3. Photograph an accepted ID. Use a passport, national identity card, or driving licence only. Keep the full document visible and readable in a clear colour photo.
  4. Take the selfie properly. If Stake asks for a selfie, hold the document beside your face without covering it. Keep the image clear, correctly oriented, and free from blur or reflections.
  5. Send the file set. Submit the documents through the verification form, then wait for the review before sending anything again.

A selfie request has its own image standards and can still affect identity verification even when the document photo is correct. The selfie guide requires a clear, colour, high-resolution image, with the document clean and readable, your face directed at the camera, no flash, and no accessories. Stake accepts JPG or PNG files for that step, not archive formats.

How to Prepare Proof of Address

Proof of address needs to show a third-party document issued in your full name and to your address. That can come from a utility provider, a bank, a tax authority, an employer, or a landlord, and it must use an international format with Latin characters. Stake asks for this proof at the address verification stage when it needs it, rather than as a fixed requirement for every account.

DocumentAccepted or RefusedCondition
Electricity, gas or water billAcceptedUtility bill
Bank or credit card statementAcceptedSupport will tell you if the statement is not accepted
Local tax notice, municipal bill or tax letterAcceptedLocal tax, municipal, or official tax authority document
Employer or educational institution letterAcceptedStamped and signed, confirming the address
Lease agreementAcceptedLease
Bank reference letterAcceptedIn English, with bank details, full name and address, opening date, account type, and letter date
Mobile phone billRefusedNot accepted

The same file rules also apply when Stake asks for source of funds evidence, so recent date, full document visibility, issuer details, and your name and address still matter. Checking your file against Stake’s proof of address rules helps you confirm that the format and visible details fit the request before you upload.

Why Stake Verification Gets Delayed

A pending review comes from either a file that does not meet Stake’s document rules or extra checks that Stake triggers on the account itself. Delays appear when the image, dates, or matching details fall short, and they also appear when a withdrawal checkpoint or a separate alert leads to deeper compliance review before the account can move forward.

  • A screenshot or digital copy can slow verification immediately. Stake asks for an original photo for identity documents, and proof of address must be an original photo or PDF rather than a screenshot.
  • Blur, flash, and reflections can stop a clean review. The same applies to a selfie where the ID is obscured, the lighting is poor, or the image quality drops.
  • A cropped, damaged, or badly positioned document can be sent back for another look. Stake wants the full ID visible, laid flat, and readable from edge to edge.
  • Date rules matter for both identity and address checks. An ID should stay valid for at least 3 months, while proof of address needs to be less than 6 months old.
  • Extra checks can pause the account even when your files are clear. A withdrawal threshold or an alert signal can bring added KYC questions and suspend the account until verification is sufficient.

Account details also need to match the documents exactly, especially your full legal name rather than a shortened version or nickname. Crypto handling matters too. Depositing and then withdrawing without play is treated as coin mixing, which makes the withdrawal invalid, so only deposit crypto you actually intend to use and be ready to explain a suspicious pattern if Stake asks.

What to Do If Verification Is Pending or Rejected

A pending review is not the same as a refusal. If Stake cannot verify your identity, profession, or source of funds, it can suspend or close the account under its regulatory duties. That means a review status can still move forward, while a failed check can lead to stronger action when the account details or financial evidence do not satisfy the verification request.

  1. Correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated account details first. Stake can suspend the account on that basis and treat later deposits as invalid, including any winnings linked to them.
  2. Resend documents only through Settings > Verification, and only after checking that the file meets the document rules. Clear images, full pages, valid dates, and visible details matter more than sending the same weak file twice.
  3. If the account is suspended, answer the specific request for extra information. Stake can ask for legal identity details, address information, identification numbers, and source of funds material before it reviews the suspension again.
  4. Stay on your own single account while the review continues. Opening a second account or moving funds between players can create a larger account problem while your review is still open.

Official help goes through Stake live chat and support email, not through random chats or social posts. Live chat is open 24 hours a day, and a suspended account is directed to support@stake.com. Each help-centre article about documents also ends with a route to support, so that is the right route when your account is pending, rejected, or under review.

How Verification Connects to Account Safety

Verification supports account ownership by tying withdrawals and account access to the person named on the account. Stake can refuse a withdrawal until identity is verified, until the withdrawal is made by the account holder, and until the destination belongs to that legal holder. In practice, withdrawals depend on verified identity and ownership, not just on having funds available.

  • Stake can run extra KYC checks for any withdrawal and can apply enhanced due diligence before processing it. A withdrawal may stay on hold until the requested ownership or destination details are provided.
  • The email on the account must be verified before a first withdrawal. After that, each withdrawal is confirmed with a 2FA code, an email code, or an OAuth check.
  • Stake stores KYC documents in a secured environment with restricted access. The protection includes password-protected systems and SSL, and service providers handling the same data must protect it as well.
  • Keeping your login details secret is your own responsibility. You should not share them with anyone, because account control starts with who can access the account in the first place.

Stake keeps personal data for as long as necessary, including legal obligations, and complete account deletion is not possible, although account closure is. Alongside verification, limits and self-exclusion let you reduce deposit, loss, or wager caps straight away, while raising a limit or removing it takes 24 hours. Self-exclusion runs for an indefinite period with a minimum of 6 months.

How to Avoid Scams and Unsafe Help Offers

Unsafe help offers target account ownership by asking for the same things that control access: documents, passwords, secret codes, or direct entry to the account. Stake’s terms place responsibility for your login details on you, and they say you must not share those credentials with anyone. If someone asks for them in a direct message or a public channel, treat that contact as a safety risk, not as verification support.

  • Anything posted in chat or on social media can become public, so no document, password, or secret code belongs in a chat conversation.
  • Send documents only through Settings > Verification. That keeps the verification process inside the account route Stake uses for identity checks.
  • Real help comes through live chat and support@stake.com. That is where verification, documents, and support questions are meant to go.

Stake uses three official email routes: noreply@stake.com for security, verification, account recovery, and confirmation codes, noreply@mail.stake.com for marketing, and support@stake.com for support. You can check if the email is from Stake before replying. If a message claims to be from Stake but uses another domain, click no links and report it to support.

Stake KYC FAQs

How Long Does Stake Verification Usually Take?

Stake does not publish an official verification timeframe. Third-party guides usually place document review at less than 24 hours, from a few minutes to a full day, with some cases stretching longer when extra security checks are added. One guide also mentions a process that can take a few days at most.

Can I Use Someone Else’s Documents for Stake Verification?

No. Stake requires you to open and verify the account personally, using true, current, and accurate identification details. The operator blocks users who provide false identity documents, try to mislead it about location, or rely on third parties during registration. Verification is tied to your own identity, not somebody else’s documents or account access.

Do I Need Proof of Address for Every Verification Step?

No. Proof of address belongs to Level 3, so it is not part of the earlier steps. Stake can still request any KYC document at any time to establish identity or location, and enhanced due diligence can also ask for a permanent address when an alert triggers a deeper account review.
