How to Play Video Poker on Stake
- Open Video Poker from the Stake Originals lobby. Each hand is dealt from a single 52-card deck.
- Enter your Bet Amount in the currency you hold. The ½ and 2× buttons halve or double it.
- Press Bet to be dealt five cards. The paytable lists every paying hand with its multiplier.
- Pick the cards you want to keep: each of the five cards has its own HOLD. Hotkeys in the game settings can hold or discard a card too.
- Draw once: every card you did not hold is replaced by another card from the deck.
- Your final hand pays your bet times its multiplier. A hand below a pair of Jacks, such as a pair of 10s, pays nothing.
Video Poker Paytable and Payouts
Only your final five cards are paid. A pair of Jacks or better pays 1x, which only gives your bet back, and 2 Pair doubles it. The paytable climbs fast at the top: 22x for 4 of a Kind, 60x for a Straight Flush and 800x for a Royal Flush.
Stake lists a single RTP for Video Poker: 99%. Over a long run of hands that is about $1 kept for every $100 wagered. From Bronze VIP ($10,000 wagered), or from sign-up with code BONUSTIIME once Stake support activates it, Stake’s rakeback returns 3.5% of that edge, about 3.5 cents per $100. Your choices count here: the cards you hold change what a hand is worth on average, but no way of holding removes the edge.

Video Poker Strategy: What You Can Control
You control
- Your bet size and how many hands you play
- Which cards you hold and which you replace
- A loss limit and a time limit, set before you start
You don’t control
- The cards you are dealt and the ones you draw
- The house edge, built into the paytable
- Streaks: the last hand has no effect on the next
Weigh each hold by what it can still pay. A pair of Jacks or better can’t pay less than 1x once you hold it, because the pair stays in your hand. A draw is only a chance. Say you hold four cards of one suit. Assuming your discard stays out of the deck, which Stake’s page does not state, you draw from the 47 cards you have not seen and 9 of them are of that suit: you get a fifth card of that suit about 19% of the time (9 divided by 47), and a Flush pays 6x.
Doubling your bet after each loss (Martingale) does not change the edge. It makes losing runs more expensive, and it stops at Stake’s maximum bet and maximum profit per bet.

How to Check a Video Poker Hand
Video Poker turns your seeds into the cards of a single 52-card deck: the five you are dealt and the ones that replace your discards. Your holds decide which cards you keep, never which cards the deck gives you.
- Before you play, open the game’s fairness settings and note the hashed server seed.
- After your session, rotate your seed: Stake reveals the old server seed.
- Hash it, compare it with the one you noted, then replay any hand with your client seed and nonce.

Is Stake Video Poker Rigged?
No. Your five cards and every replacement come from your client seed, Stake's server seed and the nonce, and Stake shows you the server seed's hash first. Once you rotate the seed, you can replay any past hand and check that no card changed after your holds.
What Is the RTP of Stake Video Poker?
Stake lists Video Poker's RTP at 99%, which leaves a 1% house edge. Over many hands that is about $1 kept per $100 wagered. Your holds also count: a poor hold lowers what that hand is worth on average.
What Is the Max Win on Stake Video Poker?
800x your bet, for a Royal Flush: the top line of Stake's paytable, ahead of 60x for a Straight Flush. Any win is also capped by Stake's maximum profit per bet.
How Is Video Poker Different from Regular Poker?
You play alone against the house, not against other players, so there is no one to bluff. Stake keeps the winning hands of five-card draw and pays each one at a fixed multiplier, from 1x for a pair of Jacks or better. You get one draw to improve your five cards.
What Is the Best Strategy for Stake Video Poker?
No strategy beats the house edge, but your holds change what you get back, so compare what each hold is worth on average. Say you are dealt a Flush with four cards to a Royal Flush. Assuming your discard stays out of the deck, which Stake's page does not state, 1 of the 47 cards you have not seen completes the Royal: it alone adds about 17x to that hold's average (800 divided by 47), more than the sure 6x of the Flush.
How Rare Is a Royal Flush in Video Poker?
Very rare. A single 52-card deck can deal 2,598,960 different five-card hands, and only 4 of them are Royal Flushes, one per suit: 1 in 649,740 deals. The draw improves those odds, because you can hold part of a Royal Flush and replace the other cards.
