How to Play Rock Paper Scissors on Stake
- Open Rock Paper Scissors from the Stake Originals lobby and select the Manual tab to play each throw yourself.
- Enter your Bet Amount in the currency you hold. The ½ and 2× buttons halve or double it.
- The Bet button places your bet, and Rock, Paper or Scissors sets your hand. Random Pick lets the game choose a hand for you.
- The computer shows its hand. Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper and Paper beats Rock.
- Each win moves you one step up the multiplier ladder. Total Profit shows your current multiplier and profit.
- After at least one win, cash out to collect your bet times the multiplier, or pick again for the next step. Lose a throw and the round ends with your bet lost.
Rock Paper Scissors Ladder and Payouts
Rock Paper Scissors pays on a ladder. Your first win sets the multiplier at 1.96x and each win after that doubles it: 3.92x, 7.84x, 15.68x and so on. Twenty wins in a row take you to the top step, 1,027,604.48x, which is Stake’s listed max win: 1.96x doubled 19 times.
We work out the chance of reaching each step from Stake’s 98% RTP: 0.98 divided by the step’s multiplier. For the first step, 0.98 divided by 1.96 gives one in two. Each step up doubles the payout and halves that chance.
Stake lists a single RTP for Rock Paper Scissors, 98%, so the 2% edge is the same wherever you cash out. Over a long run of rounds that is about $2 kept for every $100 wagered. Rock Paper Scissors Strategy: What You Can Control
You control

- A loss limit and a time limit, set before you start

- The computer’s hand: no pick wins more often
- The house edge, built into every step of the ladder
- Streaks: the last throw has no effect on the next
Your one real choice is when to stop. Cashing out at 1.96x pays about one round in two; holding out for 31.36x, five wins in a row, pays about one round in 32. Both cost the same 2% edge over time, so pick a target your budget can take and stick to it.
Doubling your bet after each loss (Martingale) does not change the edge either. It makes losing runs more expensive, and it stops at Stake’s maximum bet and maximum profit per bet.

How to Check a Rock Paper Scissors Round
Rock Paper Scissors turns your seeds into the computer’s hand on each throw: Rock, Paper or Scissors. The game then compares that hand with yours, so checking a round means checking each hand the computer showed.
- Before you play, open Fairness in the game and note the hashed server seed.
- After your session, rotate your seed: Stake reveals the old server seed.
- Hash it, compare it with the one you noted, then replay any round with your client seed and nonce.

No. The computer's hand comes from your client seed, Stake's server seed and the nonce, not from your pick. Stake shows a hash of the server seed first, so once you rotate it you can replay any round and check each hand the computer showed.
