What Is Stake Pump?

Quick answer

How to Play Pump on Stake

  1. Open Pump from the Stake Originals lobby. The Manual tab plays one round at a time.
  2. Enter your Bet Amount in the currency you hold. The ½ and 2× buttons halve or double it.
  3. Set the Difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert. The level you pick changes how Pump pays out.
  4. Press Bet, then press Pump. Each pump that holds moves you one step up the ladder, and Total Profit shows your multiplier and profit.
  5. Cash out to collect your bet times that multiplier, or pump again. If the balloon pops, the round ends and you lose your bet.
  6. To play a series of rounds, switch to Auto and set the pumps per round, the number of rounds and your profit and loss limits.

Pump waits for you: nothing moves until you pump or cash out, so there is no clock to beat. The space bar works as a hotkey to bet and pump, and you can switch the animations off.

Pump Multipliers, Difficulty and Payouts

Two things shape every payout: the Difficulty and how many pumps you survive. By default, Stake’s Pump page shows a ladder of 20 steps, from 1.23x after one pump to 52,067.40x after twenty, and the steps grow faster as you climb.

Stake lists a single RTP for Pump, 98%, for all four Difficulty settings. The last column is our calculation from that figure: 0.98 divided by a step’s multiplier gives your rough chance of reaching that step. Stake also lists a max win of 3,203,384.80x your bet, far above the top of this ladder.

Over a long run of rounds, that 98% means about $2 kept for every $100 wagered. From Bronze VIP ($10,000 wagered), or from sign-up with code BONUSTIIME once Stake support activates it, Stake’s rakeback returns 3.5% of that edge, about 7 cents per $100. The Difficulty and your cash-out point change how your wins are spread, so pick the swing your budget can take.

Chicken and Dragon Tower, two other climb-and-cash-out Originals, also run at 98% RTP. To compare every Original, see our house edge table.

Pump Strategy: When to Cash Out

You control

  • Your bet size and how many rounds you play
  • The Difficulty, and how many pumps you risk before cashing out
  • A loss limit and a time limit, set before you start

You don’t control

  • When the balloon pops: every round is random
  • The house edge, built into every multiplier
  • Streaks: the last round has no effect on the next

Cash out after two or three pumps and you win more often, for smaller amounts. On the default ladder, three pumps pay 1.98x and, by our calculation, about one round in two gets there. Ten pumps pay 17.34x, but only about one round in eighteen gets that far. Neither path changes the 2% edge.

Doubling your bet after each loss (Martingale) does not change the edge. It makes losing runs more expensive, and it stops at Stake’s maximum bet and maximum profit per bet.

18+. Play with money you can afford to lose. Stake lets you set limits or self-exclude: see our Stake self-exclusion guide and our responsible gambling page.

How to Check a Pump Round

Pump turns your seeds into the step at which the balloon will pop, as soon as you bet. Pumping only decides how far you go, not where the pop is.

  1. Before you play, open Fairness in the game and note the hashed server seed.
  2. After your session, rotate your seed: Stake reveals the old server seed.
  3. Hash it, compare it with the one you noted, then replay any round with your client seed and nonce.

Stake Pump FAQ

Is Stake Pump Rigged?

No. Pump is provably fair: Stake shows a hash of its server seed first, and once you rotate that seed you can replay any round with your client seed and nonce. The replay should match your round, pump for pump.

What Is the RTP of Stake Pump?

Stake lists Pump's RTP at 98%, which leaves a 2% house edge, with no separate figure for Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert. Over many rounds that is about $2 kept per $100 wagered.

What Is the Max Win on Stake Pump?

Stake lists it at 3,203,384.80x your bet, far above the 52,067.40x at the top of the default ladder. Any win is also capped by Stake's maximum profit per bet.

How Is Pump Different from Crash?

In Crash the multiplier climbs in real time and you must cash out before it crashes. In Pump nothing moves until you act: the multiplier only rises when you pump. Crash runs at 99% RTP, Pump at 98%.

Can the Balloon Pop on the First Pump?

Yes. On the default ladder the first pump pays 1.23x. By our calculation (0.98 divided by 1.23), it holds about 4 times in 5, so about one round in five ends on the first pump, with the bet lost.

When Should You Cash Out in Pump?

There is no best point: Stake lists one 98% RTP for Pump, so no cash-out point beats the 2% edge. By our calculation, your chance of reaching a step is about 0.98 divided by its multiplier: on the default ladder, about 1 in 211 for 15 pumps (206.62x) and 1 in 53,130 for all 20 (52,067.40x). Pick a target your budget can take and stick to it.
