Stake in Argentina: Why Stake.com Is Not Open There

Stake.com is not available from Argentina under its own terms, so Stake Argentina does not mean one single site. Three different services carry the Stake name. One is Stake.com, one is a provincially licensed Buenos Aires operation, and one is a separate social casino for players in the United States. Each of those sites has its own operator and its own regulatory framework.

The Stake name by itself does not tell you which operator, which licence, or which local rules apply. For anyone in Argentina, Stake.com stays closed across the whole country. Is Stake Legit?

Stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V. in Curaçao and holds a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence, which identifies the operator behind the site. Its terms also state that the English version controls if any translated version differs. To open a Stake.com account, you must be at least 18, or the higher legal age of majority where that applies.

Stake.com’s Curaçao licence and named operator do not make the service legal to use from Argentina. Its own terms exclude Argentina, so a licensed operator still does not offer access there. If the question is whether Stake.com is licensed, the answer is yes. If the question is whether that licence opens the service in Argentina, the answer is no.

Can You Use Stake in Argentina?

No, you cannot use Stake in Argentina through Stake.com. Under Stake.com’s terms of service, article 14.3 places Argentina among the prohibited jurisdictions, so the service is not available in Argentina. The same contract also says users must ensure their access is lawful where they are, and use the service only from a jurisdiction where it is legal under local rules.

Argentina is one of the jurisdictions Stake.com does not serve under article 14.3. The contract also gives Stake the right to examine device properties, use geolocation, and identify IP masking to stop prohibited access. Stake says it cannot verify legality in each market, so the user must ensure access complies with local rules.

Can You Create a Stake Account from Argentina?

No. Stake does not accept registration from people who live where gambling is illegal or not permitted, and its terms place Argentina among the prohibited jurisdictions. The same terms also require users to access Stake.com only from a jurisdiction where use is legal, and that obligation continues for as long as the Stake account is used.

A false address or misleading location is not a minor account detail under Stake’s rules. Stake says account opening requires personal information including email, full name, date of birth, and address. If that information is incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date, Stake may suspend registration, treat later deposits as invalid, and treat any resulting winnings as void.

KYC, AML, and Account Security

KYC and AML checks are part of account security because they help establish both identity and location. Stake’s KYC checks can be requested at any time, and Stake may restrict services, payments, or withdrawals until identity is established well enough. Stake also says all transactions are monitored to prevent money laundering, and an authority request can lead to suspension, blocking, closure, and retention of funds.

Deposits, Withdrawals, and Closed Accounts

For accounts that breach Stake’s jurisdiction warranties, deposits and withdrawals are handled under the closure clauses. Stake says a violation of the warranties in clause 5.1 can lead to suspension or closure of the account and cancellation of bets, where the law allows. A breach of the terms can also let Stake retain amounts that would otherwise have been paid out, including winnings, where the law permits.

When Stake closes an account, the next question is the remaining balance. Stake says it will inform the player about the available means to withdraw what remains, and players seeking funds from a closed, locked, or excluded account are directed to support@stake.com. Stake may also carry out extra KYC checks before any withdrawal.

Online Gambling Regulation in Argentina

Online gambling in Argentina is regulated jurisdiction by jurisdiction, not through one federal system. That means local rules depend on where a service is offered and which authority licenses it. In the City of Buenos Aires, the gambling authority is LOTBA. In the Province of Buenos Aires, the authority is the IPLyC. Online gambling sites are authorised by the regulator of each jurisdiction.

In the province, Law 15.079 and Decree 181/19 authorised seven online gambling licences. Gambling is prohibited for anyone under 18. The IPLyC’s list of legal online gambling sites includes one Stake-branded address, pba.stake.bet.ar. That site is distinct from Stake.com and appears on the provincial list as a separate regulated operation.

The same provincial framework also sets out public safeguards. Article 301 bis of the Criminal Code and article 160 of Law 15.079 target those who operate, administer, sponsor, or promote illegal betting sites. Alongside enforcement, the IPLyC and the provincial health ministry have run a public, free prevention and assistance programme, with a free telephone line, ten centres, and a self-exclusion procedure.

Brand Partnerships: Stake and Kun Agüero

Stake’s name may feel familiar in Argentina because Stake.com signed Sergio “Kun” Agüero, the former Argentina striker, as a global brand ambassador in a multi-year partnership covering content, promotions, and experiences for fans. Stake’s partnership with Kun Agüero helps explain that visibility through brand partnerships, but it does not change who can access Stake.com.

Brand partnerships like this one create no exception to article 14.3 of Stake.com’s terms. Argentina remains on the list of prohibited jurisdictions for Stake.com, and that restriction follows the place where the player is located, not the player’s nationality. A separate Stake-branded provincial site also exists, but it is a different regulated operation rather than an exception inside Stake.com’s service.
