What Is Stake Keno?

Quick answer

Stake Keno is an in-house Stake game: you pick 1 to 10 numbers on a 40-number board, then 10 numbers are drawn. Stake sets its RTP at 99%, a 1% house edge. Your win depends on how many numbers you pick, how many of them are drawn and the Difficulty you set.

How to Play Keno on Stake

  1. Open Keno from the Stake Originals lobby. Manual mode plays one round each time you press Bet.
  2. Enter your Bet Amount in the currency you hold. The ½ and 2× buttons halve or double it.
  3. Set the Difficulty: Classic, Low, Medium or High.
  4. Pick 1 to 10 numbers on the board of 40, or press Random Pick to let the game choose them. Clear Table removes your picks.
  5. Press Bet. The game draws 10 numbers and pays you from the paytable according to how many of your picks were drawn.
  6. To play a series of rounds, switch to Auto and set the number of bets first.

Keno Picks, Hits and Payouts

Every Keno win is paid from a paytable. Stake says the Difficulty and your spread of numbers both change the risk, but it does not print the paytables on its Keno page: check the payouts shown in game before you bet.

Ten of the 40 numbers come up each round, so any single number you pick has a 10 in 40 chance of being drawn, or 25%. A full set gets rare fast: 2 picks both land about once in 17 rounds (45 winning pairs out of 780), 5 picks about once in 2,611 rounds, and 10 picks about once in 847,660,528. Each figure compares the sets you can fill from the 10 drawn numbers with all the sets you could pick from 40. The Difficulty does not change these odds, only what each result pays.

Stake lists a single RTP for Keno: 99%. Over a long run of rounds that is about $1 kept for every $100 wagered. From Bronze VIP ($10,000 wagered), or from sign-up with code BONUSTIIME once Stake support activates it, Stake’s rakeback returns 3.5% of that edge, about 3.5 cents per $100. Picks and Difficulty change how your wins are spread, so choose the swing your budget can take.

Plinko and Wheel, two other drop-and-reveal Originals, also run at 99% RTP. To compare every Original, see our house edge table.

Keno Strategy: What You Can Control

You control

  • Your bet size and how many rounds you play
  • How many numbers you pick and the Difficulty
  • A loss limit and a time limit, set before you start

You don’t control

  • Which 10 numbers are drawn: every draw is random
  • The house edge, built into every paytable
  • Streaks: the last draw has no effect on the next

Doubling your bet after each loss (Martingale) does not change the edge. It makes losing runs more expensive, and it stops at Stake’s maximum bet and maximum profit per bet. Tracking hot or cold numbers does not help either: past rounds tell you nothing about which numbers come up next.

18+. Play with money you can afford to lose. Stake lets you set limits or self-exclude: see our Stake self-exclusion guide and our responsible gambling page.

How to Check a Keno Draw

Keno turns your seeds into the 10 winning numbers, drawn from the 40 on the board. Your picks are then matched against them, and the paytable for your Difficulty and number of picks sets the payout.

  1. Before you play, open Fairness in the game and note the hashed server seed.
  2. After your session, rotate your seed: Stake reveals the old server seed.
  3. Hash it, compare it with the one you noted, then replay any round with your client seed and nonce.

Stake Keno FAQ

Is Stake Keno Rigged?

No. The 10 numbers come from your client seed, Stake's server seed and the nonce, and Stake shows the server seed's hash first. Once that seed is revealed, you can replay any round and get the same 10 numbers. Choosing by hand or with Random Pick makes no difference to the draw.

What Is the RTP of Stake Keno?

Stake lists Keno's RTP at 99%, which leaves a 1% house edge. Over many rounds that is about $1 kept per $100 wagered. Stake gives one figure for the game, not one per Difficulty or number of picks.

What Is the Max Win on Stake Keno?

Stake does not publish a max win for Keno. It depends on how many numbers you pick and the Difficulty, and the paytable is shown in game. Any win is also capped by Stake's maximum profit per bet.

How Many Numbers Are Drawn in Stake Keno?

Ten, from a board of 40, whatever you pick. You choose 1 to 10 numbers yourself or with Random Pick, and your win depends on how many of them are among the 10 drawn.

What Do Classic, Low, Medium and High Mean in Keno?

They are the four Difficulty levels. Stake says the Difficulty and how many numbers you pick set the risk of a round, and the paytable changes with them. No level changes the draw of 10 numbers from 40 or beats the house edge.

What Are the Odds of Hitting All 10 in Keno?

About 1 in 847,660,528 rounds. That is the number of ways to choose 10 numbers from 40, and only one of those sets matches the 10 drawn. The Difficulty changes what a full set pays, not how often it lands.
