Antom, the platform that signs up merchants, turns gambling businesses away in all forms. Its European entity, AIEU Services Limited S.A., works only with merchants of the European Economic Area, not with their customers.
The consumer side closes the same door. The app listing says Alipay is not built for foreigners to use at home, or in any country other than China.
What Alipay Is
Alipay is a consumer wallet and super app, published by Alipay (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd., that people in China use to pay shops and services. Foreign visitors to China can connect their own credit card and pay at the tens of millions of merchants that accept it across the country, which is how many travellers first meet the name.
Alipay Withdrawals: No Payout Route
Alipay publishes no route for paying casino winnings into the wallet. On the merchant side, the businesses Antom refuses are defined by the prizes they pay: its banned category names casino games and sports betting that pay monetary or material prizes, along with games of chance and fantasy sports with prizes. Alipay’s Gambling Rules, Layer by Layer
Four documents, each written for a different party, keep gambling out of the Alipay system:
- Alipay+ rules, passed on to merchants by their acquirer: no Alipay+ transaction may be submitted for gambling or lottery services.
